Associate Veterinarian | Mixed Animal Practice | Lander, Wyoming
A well-loved mixed animal practice in the heart of Lander, Wyoming, is on the lookout for a new Associate Veterinarian — ideally someone who doesn’t mind swapping their stethoscope between a Great Dane and a gelding on occasion.
This long-standing, privately owned practice has earned its stripes (and a few hoof prints) as one of the area’s most trusted veterinary teams. With a caseload that’s roughly 85% small animal and 15% large (livestock and equine), this is the perfect role for a doctor who enjoys variety and values true mixed animal medicine without losing balance or sanity.
The Practice
- Three-partner ownership with two associates (including one freshly hired Wyoming native everyone already likes).
- Modern 4,500 sq. ft. facility designed for comfort, function, and the occasional muddy boot.
- One surgical suite, one dental suite, a radiology/ultrasound suite, three exam rooms, and a comfort room (for acupuncture, laser therapy, and quiet goodbyes).
- Large animal treatment area complete with equine stocks and bovine procedure space — yes, including those winter C-sections.
The Job
- Schedule: Four-day workweek, no routine weekends.
- Call Rotation: Shared evenly, with $1.50/hr standby pay, monthly stipend, and $125–$210 per emergency (averaging ~$10K extra per year).
- Caseload: Everything from puppy vaccines to calving assistance, depending on your interests and caffeine tolerance.
Compensation & Perks
- Base Salary: $95,000–$120,000 DOE
- Production Bonus: 23% ProSal, no negative accrual
- Benefits:
- 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
- 3% SIMPLE IRA match after one year
- Paid licenses, DEA, and controlled substance fees
- PTO/vacation package (details discussed during interview)
- CE allowance and paid CE days
- Translation: They take care of their people.
The Ideal Candidate
- 2+ years of clinical experience (5–7 preferred).
- Confident managing a true mixed animal caseload.
- Enjoys teamwork, independence, and being part of a genuinely supportive crew.
- Bonus points if you love the outdoors as much as your patients’ owners do.
The Location
Lander, WY sits at the base of the Wind River Range — a paradise for anyone who hikes, climbs, fishes, hunts, or rides. The pace is relaxed, the views are ridiculous, and the sense of community is real. It’s the kind of place where neighbors still wave, and your clients just might bring you homemade cookies (or elk jerky).
Interested candidates will find not just a job, but a team that believes in good medicine, good mentorship, and good humor. Here, you’ll have room to grow, breathe, and build a career that’s as fulfilling as the Wyoming sky is wide.
